At St Benedict’s, the whole school is committed to providing a broad and balance curriculum that is both exciting and inspiring for our children. We have worked hard to design our curriculum based around a ‘Big Idea’ theme.  Every  half term the whole school has a focus and each class then design their sequence of lessons around one question. For example, during our recent  Earth and Space topic, Class 4 designed their Design Technology, Music, English and Science theme around the question: How Big is Space?

We are very proud of how our curriculum runs with a common thread throughout the school.  At the beginning of each topic we hold a lift off assembly to introduce our new topic and help to inspire the children. Each Big Idea also works towards an 'end goal' where children celebrate their learning and answer their original question. For example, for the end goal of Class 4's Space topic, they created a Space Library and gave Class 2 a tour to demonstrate their learning!

We constantly monitor and evaluate our curriculum and improvements made whenever possible.
